Clay
We start with a wedged lump of stoneware clay, about two kilos for a jug. It is pressed onto the wheel and centred by hand until it spins true.
Collection One · ships spring 2027
Kilnworth is a three-person ceramics studio. Our first collection is six pieces for the table, thrown, fired and glazed in our own workshop. Leave your email and we will write when it is ready to order.

We start with a wedged lump of stoneware clay, about two kilos for a jug. It is pressed onto the wheel and centred by hand until it spins true.
02 / 04
The clay is opened and pulled up into walls of even thickness. Faint rings from our fingers stay in the surface, so no two pieces match exactly.
03 / 04
After a week of drying, each piece goes into the kiln for a first firing at 1000 °C. It comes out as hard, warm terracotta called bisque, ready for glaze.
04 / 04
Each piece is dipped in two glazes and fired again at 1240 °C. The line where the glazes meet is set by the dipping hand, so it is never quite straight.
